Professional Summary

Maria Guadalupe “Lupe” joined SUHI in April of 2019 as a Bilingual Community Health Educator for Helping Her Live Program. In providing beast health awareness, she will navigate women on the west and southwest sides of Chicago through the mammogram process.

Prior to joining SUHI, Lupe worked as a SASS clinician for Under the Rainbow at Mt. Sinai. As a SASS clinician Lupe provided crisis assessments and case management for children and adolescents living in the Pilsen-Little Village area for over 25 years, working with schools, community agencies, psychiatric hospitals and home visits.

Lupe was born, raised and went to school in Chicago and is fully Bilingual. Mother of 3, grandmother of 7 and enjoys all types of music and traveling. Lupe volunteers for Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly.

Lupe has worked in the community for over 35 years and hopes to continue working to empower families in the community for years to come.
