SUHI Staff: Kimberly Baird

Research Support Specialist

Professional Summary
Kimberly Baird joined Sinai Urban Health Institute (SUHI) in March 2018 as a Research Support Specialist. Being new to the Chicago area, she was looking for an opportunity where she could combine her wide range of skills with her passion for helping others. As a Research Support Specialist, she is able to assist all team members in the pursuit of community wellness.

Kimberly previously worked as a case manager for The Kitchen Inc., a non-profit in Springfield, Missouri that supports formerly homeless individuals and families in their pursuit of self-sufficiency and independence. It was in this role that she discovered some of the large pitfalls in the social services realm, and saw firsthand how the lack of access to even one service can create a cascade of problems that can quickly become difficult to navigate. She plans to pursue an education in public health and is interested in policy and research in the areas of poverty, health, violence, and gender.  She enjoys volunteering and giving back to her community, and has been a literacy tutor for the past two years.
