KIM ARTIS, BA
Community Health Worker III; CROWD Trainer
Kim Artis joined SUHI on March 5, 2012 as a Community Health Worker for the Helping Children Breathe and Thrive Program. She currently works on several SUHI projects including, the Medically Complex and Diabetes interventions. In addition, Kim is also instrumental in creating and facilitating CHW Core Skills Training modules through CROWD, our Center for CHW Research Outcomes and Workforce Development and collaborates with various organizations to develop and implement research tools and intervention protocols.
Kim’s formal studies allowed her to achieve her BA and utilize her skills to move forward the mission of SUHI which is “achieving health equity among communities through excellence and innovation in data-driven research, interventions and collaboration”. Her professional career has always had some significant portion of customer service attached, as her delight is meeting new people and assisting with their needs. This is the essence of CHW work. “Treat people like you want to be treated” is her favorite saying and keeping this in mind will always remind you to treat others with kindness and respect.
Being active in her church and in the music department, has allowed her to further assist those in need in addition to recording some gospel and other genres of music. Kim is a proud mom of one biological daughter who is a licensed cosmetologist working in the film and print industry and is the "extra" mom to many of the young people in her community. She provides them with social support and encouragement that they may not otherwise get.
Kim looks forward to achieving continued success as an employee of SUHI as she believes in the awesome work this team does, and continues to do.
