Scholarly Activity

Through various scholarly activities the program broadens the fund of knowledge in family medicine and teaches residents the importance of continuing medical education throughout their career and the significance of evidence based medicine with emphasis on analyzing and applying critical and updated information.

Residents are required to participate in scholarly activity throughout all three years of residency which includes:

  • Journal club
  • Case presentations
  • Morbidity & mortality reports
  • Quality improvement projects

Many of the residents participate in oral and poster presentations at various events yearly, and have authored or co-authored a multitude of publications ranging from journal articles to chapters in medical books and references. Residents also have the ability to participate and contribute in an assortment of faculty sponsored clinical and research opportunities while at Mount Sinai.
