Hospital Medicine

Hospital medicine is a specialty dedicated to the delivery of comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients. A hospitalist is a licensed physician who has the expertise to care for patients while they are in the hospital.

At Mount Sinai Hospital, our hospitalists make a difference by delivering high-quality, compassionate, and comprehensive care to patients.

Medical consultation is an important clinical component for our hospitalist program. Our doctors evaluate patients provide assessments and recommendations for patients’ care. Our doctors often provide comprehensive co-management of complex medical issues for patients with surgical or obstetrics problems.

Because of our strong commitment to patients, one or more members of our hospitalist group are present at Mount Sinai Hospital 24 hours per day 7 days per week. We work closely with community-based outpatient physicians to make sure that necessary patient information is obtained during admission and that information about the hospitalization is transmitted to the outpatient physicians when patients are discharged.
