Deaf Access ProgramDeaf Access Program
Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital works with the Deaf Access Program at Sinai Health System so that Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients can communicate effectively with their physicians. The Deaf Access Program at offers a broad range of medical and support services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients in their language, American Sign Language (ASL). Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients come from all over Chicago to seek their medical needs with Sinai’s three primary care physicians who are fluent in ASL and familiar with Deaf Culture. The Deaf Access Program also addresses communication needs by providing sign language interpreters on-site and through video technology called Illinois Video Interpreting Network (IVIN).
