GENERAL SUMMARY/BASIC PURPOSE OF JOB: Serves as liaison between patients, referral sources, insurance companies and hospital staff regarding admission issues related to finance and insurance. Conducts preadmission screening and includes all Medicare-required elements in the screening process. Verifies insurance information and obtains all required approval signatures. Monitors, directs and responds to referral sources in a timely manner. Facilitates the efficient flow of patients through the Admitting process and interacts with the Physicians, Nursing Staff, hospital staff and others to achieve efficient work flow. Displays excellent customer service skills when interacting with internal and external customers. MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of clerical/computer certification program preferred. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE: Previous patient admitting or registration work experience preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proficient in using computer application software such as MS Excel and Word; Meditech; and various other office-related applications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to interact with a diverse client base including patients and their family members; medical center staff; and external parties as required. High level of organizational and attention to detail skills. Ability to follow-through and ensure tasks are brought to successful completion. REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS: None.
