Sinai Urban Health Institute a catalyst in changing lives
Sinai Urban Health Institute’s research triggered a call to action for
health in a largely Puerto Rican neighborhood just west of Chicago’s loop. Humboldt
Park Community members were shocked by the findings but immediately agreed to
learn more about nutrition, exercise and what could be done to manage their diabetes. Within
three years the outcome of their efforts was recognized by the Chicago Community
Trust which awarded the Greater Humboldt Park Community of Wellness its Outstanding
Community Strategy of the Year.
