Yesenia Galvan, MPH

Supervisor of Program Initiatives

Professional Summary
Yesenia Galvan joined SUHI in September 2018 as a Supervisor of Program Initiatives. She is working with SUHI’s Center for CHW Research, Outcomes, and Workforce Development (CROWD) developing and facilitating trainings and supporting contracted clients. In addition to CROWD, she is also overseeing community health worker interventions. A Chicago native, Yesenia was raised in the Little Village community, and moved to New York City in 2016 to attend graduate school. Having recently moved back to Chicago from NYC, she is incredibly excited to join the team.

Yesenia received her Bachelor’s in Psychology from DePaul University and her Master’s in Public Health from New York University. Upon graduating from DePaul in 2010, she worked in the non-profit sector, focusing on low-income, underserved areas, in an attempt to inform, educate, and empower the communities. While in New York City, she interned at New York City Health and Hospitals, working with the adolescent health department in over ten of their hospitals and clinics. As a public health professional, she hopes to aid in bridging racial and economic gaps in vulnerable communities throughout Chicago. .
