GLORIA SEALS

Supervisor of Asthma Education

Professional Summary
Gloria Seals has been with Sinai Children’s Hospital and SUHI in various positions since November 2000.  Currently Ms. Seals serves as the Supervisor of Asthma Education for the Asthma CarePartners (ACP) program, providing oversight, training and support to Community Health Workers (CHWs) working in the program.  In addition, she serves as a Supervisor of Asthma Education for the Coordinated Healthcare Interventions for Childhood Gaps in Outcomes Plan, or CHICAGO Plan, a project funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). The CHICAGO Plan is a collaboration between six different emergency departments in the city of Chicago and is a three-arm pragmatic trial to evaluate interventions to improve pediatric asthma management in inner city Chicago children.  One of the arms is the CHW home-visit model in which SUHI is an expert.  She also completes home visits and manages a caseload of ACP participants.  Ms. Seals oversees the day-to-day operations of Sinai’s Pediatric Asthma Program. In this capacity, Ms. Seals provides guidance, direction and on-going training to Sinai’s CHEs, establishes relationships with community partners, ensures the quality of the services provided by the program, and provides case management. Ms. Seals has also been instrumental to several of Sinai’s breast cancer initiatives, serving as both an educator and coordinator.

Ms. Seals has worked in the health care field for the past 25 years. She is a respected and known member of the greater Chicago asthma and health communities, having served as an advisor to several programs. Ms. Seals enjoys working directly with CHWs, professionals and community members to improve the health of families, and the work has given her a real sense of accomplishment.
