Sinai Speaks to the Business Case for the ACA on National Public Radio's "Marketplace"
On 2/6/17, National Public Radio’s Marketplace featured an interview with Sinai Senior Vice President for Strategy and External Affairs, Roberta Rakove. She spoke of the Affordable Care Act business benefits Sinai has realized through Medicaid expansion and how they tied into channeling revenue from previously uninsured patients into investments in behavioral health. This wider and deeper behavioral health capacity results in diverting patients from inappropriate and expensive Emergency Room treatment to medically appropriate, and less costly, sites of care such as the Crisis Stabilization Unit and outpatient behavioral health care. Wins for patients, the community and ultimately tax payers.
