Message from Chief Medical Resident:

Welcome to our program! This is a real exciting and nerve-wracking time of year for applicants. Trying to figure out what specialty to choose or where to live can be daunting.  My experience at Mount Sinai has been an excellent one. When I first started my training at Sinai, I was a nervous, shy, and scared intern, I was told by several of my senior residents “If you survive three years of residency at Mount Sinai, you could practice anywhere without any challenges.” The diverse patient population we serve is challenging with complex medical problems, advanced diseases and multiple social problems, but gives us a clinical training experience that you will never forget. This program provides you extensive training on wards, ICU, and ambulatory clinics. The majority of our graduating residents are certified in various ultrasound-guided procedures and can comfortably manage patients independently sometimes beyond the scope of “typical internal medicine”. In the past two years, we have had 100% and 80 % percent match rates into competitive fellowships throughout the nation. After three years at Mount Sinai, I can confidently say that this program has equipped me with all the necessary tools to manage all types of complicated medical problems and prepared me to manage patients as a whole. If I was to do it all over again, I would choose Mount Sinai Internal Medicine at Chicago in a heartbeat. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns and we look forward to reviewing your application and getting to meet you in person. Good Luck.
