Bariatric Surgery

If you are struggling with obesity and related health problems, and you have tried unsuccessfully to lose weight, bariatric surgery may be right for you. The Weight Loss Surgery program at Mount Sinai Hospital combines advanced surgical procedures with extensive patient education and support to help overweight individuals both achieve and maintain a healthy weight.

 

You are a candidate for bariatric surgery:

  • If you have a BMI > 40
  • If you have a BMI of 35 with an obesity related health problem such as diabetes, hypertension, or sleep apnea

 

Our program’s goal is to prevent or alleviate health conditions associated with being overweight and empower individuals to pursue healthy lifestyles.

  • Lower blood sugar
  • Improve cholesterol
  • Reduce reflux
  • Decrease cardiovascular morbidity
  •  Decrease sleep apnea
